Joe Knap, Advocate, Care Partner
His Story
Joe Knap became a champion for the Alzheimer's community after his wife, Jenny, was diagnosed with the disease in 2015. As both a care partner and advocate, Joe has partnered closely with the Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation and the Cleveland Clinic's Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health — supporting Jenny's participation in multiple clinical trials and using their shared platform to push for broader access to treatments and greater diversity in research. His dedication to the clinical trial process earned him the National Citizen Scientist Collaborator Award from the Global Alzheimer's Platform Foundation, which recognizes study partners who go above and beyond in supporting participants through the trial journey. Joe's advocacy is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: that no one should be left out of the fight against Alzheimer's because of financial or systemic barriers.
