Becky Scott
Care Partner & Advocate
Becky’s Story
Becky Scott is a dementia advocate based in Indiana, engaged in community outreach, caregiver support, and public awareness efforts throughout the state. She regularly speaks with community members, caregivers, healthcare workers, and families about dementia awareness, the challenges caregivers face, and the resources available to them.
Becky created informational cards about her service dog, Molly, whose vest reads "I'm working my dad Lyle lives with Alzheimer's," explaining Molly's role in supporting her family as her husband, Lyle, lives with the disease. The cards have become a tool for public education, often opening conversations about dementia in everyday settings. Becky also connects directly with families affected by Alzheimer's and related dementias, including Lewy Body Disease, offering support and guidance where she can. In 2026, she founded the Purple Pause Challenge, a movement launching June 14 to raise awareness of dementia and the urgent need to support care partners and families. Through this work, she is advocating for a dementia village model in Indiana, inspired by care communities opening in Wisconsin.
Becky's advocacy has brought her into conversation with national voices in the field, including a recent appearance in Teepa Snow's "Courageous Conversations" series, and she has been featured in a WTWO segment with special correspondent Patrece Dayton on Alzheimer's research underway in the Wabash Valley. Advocacy has become part of Becky's daily life, rooted in her experience as a care partner to her husband, Lyle, who lives with Alzheimer's disease.
